about

This is Joni Mitchell's 'Woodstock' re-harmonized and with a new melody that fits with the old one. Just now, some years later, I added Mitchell's lovely melody.

Some of the lyrics echo hers, too. Such as: 'riding shotgun in the sky' becomes 'shot up in the sky'.

lyrics

Like a horse along the road
free from the rein and bridle
I'm the song slipped from the case
when your guitar was idle

Chorus: If you can sing yes
to all that sadness
I will enter you and stay
all the life of my years and my days

Like a fish that swims upstream
from a sea of trouble
I'm the song from the time of man
when your guitar was able

(Chorus)

Like a bird that's free at last
from the psychobabble
I'm the song shot up in the sky
and your guitar is liable

(Chorus)
