Thiis garland of dances follows the Carnatic convention of the ragas Nata, Gaula, Arabi, Varali, and Sri in corresponding talas or jatis valued at 4, 3, 7, 5 and 9 beats. The melodies in the ragas keep the outline and lyrics of Beethoven's Ode to Joy.

The final tune's melody is joined from time to time by the first line of Muttuswami Diksitar's heart-stopping kriti Sri Kamalambike, shortened from its 10 to 9 beats.
