Normally there's one ballad, if that, in a forty-minute set. Miles said he didn't play ballads any more because he loved ballads so much. We must try to play more of them.

The instrument featured is by D'Angelico, who justly was said to have built the Stradivari of jazz guitars. My ax has almost too much will, directing my fingers and heart to linger over its fierce and tender notes.
